To still be able to weigh and label it accurately, we make sure the fruit is properly stabilized on the production line. With the right sensors, product detection remains reliable, even when the shape varies from piece to piece.

For fruit, we also often look at the right moment to apply the label. For apples, for example, we sometimes apply the label to the bag before it's even filled. This keeps the label nice and flat, rather than having to apply it over an uneven shape afterward.

Yes, that's certainly possible. The challenge with vegetables is that they are an organic, irregular product: a cabbage or celeriac grows the way it grows, and therefore always has a different shape and size.

This also directly affects line speed: with a difficult, irregular product, the processing speed is often lower than with a uniform product.

A calibrated (certified) scale is a scale suitable for trade purposes - for example, when a price is calculated based on weight, such as a greengrocer charging a price per kilo.

A calibrated scale can be recognized by a metrological mark and seals, which ensure that the scale cannot simply be recalibrated or adjusted by the user.

A calibrated scale also always has a fixed division: for example, a 3 kg scale can be certified to an accuracy of 1 gram, but not half a gram - this is set by law.

A calibrated scale is not the same as a calibrated-for-accuracy (adjusted) scale: adjustment only involves resetting and checking the scale using reference weights, without the official certification and sealing that comes with legal calibration.

An incorrect price on the label usually arises because something goes wrong in the connection between your scale, the software, and the printer, or because data is entered manually. By setting up this process properly, you can largely prevent errors.

First, make sure there's a direct connection between the scale and the point-of-sale or ERP system, so the weight is automatically converted into the correct price and no manual input is needed. Manual input is, after all, one of the most common sources of errors.

Also use a calibrated scale when weight forms the basis for price calculation. A calibrated scale is certified and sealed, ensuring accuracy is guaranteed and cannot be accidentally or unauthorizedly adjusted.

Have price changes, such as promotional prices or new per-kilo prices, updated centrally in the system rather than on individual devices. This prevents some machines from still working with an outdated price.

Regularly check the settings and operation of your equipment, for example through an annual inspection of your scales. This way, you can be sure the weight is measured correctly and translates into the right price on the label.
