Can a weighing platform be built into the floor?

Yes, it can. A floor scale can be placed on the floor, but it can also be built into the floor. A hole is cut into the floor and a pit frame is installed in it. The scale is then placed in that frame.

The result is a level floor with no step or ramp. This means you can drive straight over it with a trolley or pallet truck to weigh something.

Would you rather not build into the floor? Then a low-profile scale is a good alternative. It features a ramp, so you can also drive onto it with a trolley or pallet truck. Which solution suits you best depends on your space and how often you weigh.

Do you have a question? Please let us know!

  1. What is the difference between a floor weighing scale, a low-profile weighing scale and a weighing platform?
    "

There are different types of scales for on or in the floor, each with its own application:

    • Floor scale: placed on the floor. You can stack crates on it or place a pallet on it with a forklift.
    • Low-profile scale: features a ramp, so you can drive a trolley or pallet truck straight onto it.
    • Pit-mounted scale: a floor scale built into the floor, so you can drive straight over it.
    • Wheel weighing platforms: special platforms for weighing vehicles such as cars and trailers. These allow you to determine not only the total weight, but also which wheel carries the most weight.

Which type suits you best depends on what you weigh and how you get it onto the scale.

  3. What size weighing platform do I need?
    "

That depends on what you are going to weigh. If you weigh crates, a smaller platform will do. If you weigh pallets, you need a larger size.

Popular sizes are around 1.0 to 1.25 metres, as these are suitable for Euro pallets. There are also larger platforms, for example 1.5 x 2.5 metres, for large packaging. Most applications fall within a capacity of up to 3,000 kg.

There are also options for heavy-duty applications, with scales of up to 10,000 kg. These are used, for example, for weighing steel coils. We also take care of checking these heavy scales: for this, we arrive with a truck full of certified test weights.
